Our Institutions
Dr. Prasanna Kumara Weerasekara is the founder of our Traditional Medicine Association, his vision is to
build an identity for our Sri Lankan traditional indigenous medicine system both domestically and
internationally. He has also built an educational center called International Traditional Medical Institute
with the aim of building a new identity for our medicine system called Seehela wedaya (Ceylon
Traditional Medicine). Diploma courses, training certificate courses have been established and a new
program has been introduced to Sri Lankan medical education. His aim is to pass down the Sri Lankan
traditional medical knowledge system from generation to generation and create a generation of
students who are equipped with modern medicine.
We have established the association with the aim of bringing together traditional doctors from all over
Sri Lanka and to give professional respect to them. Currently, the largest number of traditional healers in
Sri Lanka are members of our association. Also, our social workers are engaged in professions in foreign
countries, contributing greatly to the Sri Lankan economy. ITMI Institute and CTMC Association were
merging.
